It was surprisingly hot at night. The rest of the crew was out cold after a drinking fest. It surprised you how much the human body could contain so much wastage at once. Oh well. It didn't matter to you. You stood out on the empty open deck; starring into the star filled sky. It was truly amazing.
"It's amazing isn't it?" You flinched, whipping around to find Ottoman.
"Oh. It's you." You sneered.
"Whoa now, let's not get too snappy." He laughed off your insult. You heard his footsteps approach you, before standing next to you, to admire the view.
He let out a sigh.
"I remember the first day I set sail," he began; glancing over at you to make sure you were paying attention. You didn't dare to look him in the eyes.
"The sun was shining, the wind was whistling, and the seas were welcoming me to a life of adventure."
You rolled your eyes. You could care less at the moment.
"I was so pumped up, but at the time I was little. Unlike now," He gave you a toothy grin. Didn't faze you.
"All of the others were picking on me, saying I could never become anything great like I claimed I could be." He paused.
"I found myself looking at this sky, this enchanting sky. And I realized something. That if these stars could stretch farther than the eye can see, that than can go farther than the limits, that maybe I could too."
You nodded to yourself. He had a point. You too found yourself looking past the limits in a way. Looking past the limits of your brothers illness. You could help him. You would do anything.
"You amaze me."
And blink again.
"Um…excuse me?" You cocked an eyebrow at him. For once, he wasn't looking at you. Instead, he was starring into the sky. A thoughtful look dwelled with in his half lidded eyes; a light blush brushed upon his cheeks. Maybe if he didn't hide behind that mask, he wouldn't seem to intimidating.
"You amaze me. You were so fearless, so strong back there. Don't tell the men this, but I saw you out there when you shoved their faces into the ground. Oh ho ho~" He laughed as he gave you a light nudge on the shoulder, then lightly gripped it to help you keep balance when you tipped over a bit from the nudge. You could help but lightly smile; maybe he was more than what he seemed to be.
"Man, you made them look like fools!" He's grip lightened and so did his smile. It melted away into…you couldn't describe it. It seemed like it was full of pride, but hidden deep inside was agony.
"How could you get that strong? What pushed you to be that way?"
"I guess you could say it's my undying dedication to helping out my brother." You lightly smiled at the thought of you and him as children, running about in the front yard.
"Hmph, that takes guts. I like that about you." You tilted your head to the side, hoping you could hide the light blush hidden on your face.
"So is it just you and your brother then?"
"That's tough. Well…where's your mother?"
You froze at this question.
It felt as if icy cold water was dripping down your spinal cords, traveling down wrapping its way around your heart and squeezed tightly. No...That memory was coming back...
"_______?" It was the first time he called you by your name, and it was a worried tone.
You tried your best not to show any emotion.
"My mother...died of a heart ache." You simply stated in a small voice.
Silence; not even the sound of the oceans wave hitting against the ships board accorded. It's almost as if the world had stopped.
"She…got married to my father. They were young, too young. But they were in love. Or at least she thought so. But I guess my father had other ideas. When he found out she was pregnant with me and brother, he claimed he wasn't ready for that kind of commitment. So, he put on his shoes and left." You lightly smiled.
"You know, I remember every time my mother told me this story, I would feel so disgusted with myself for taking away her only happiness."
All of a sudden, you were yanked into a welcoming warmth that filled you from the inside out. And then realization hit you. Ottoman was hugging you, embracing you. He was much taller than you; over towering you. Despite of what he did, you just stood there. Frozen.
"It's not your fault. Don't you dare say it's your fault."
You felt your heart stop.
"What your father did was his choice. And he'll have to live with the guilt for the rest of his life. He'll regret the day he missed out on having such a strong family. A mother who fought a heart ache as much as she could, a daughter who works to the bone, and son who fights for his very life every day. It's his fault not yours. You're just…" He paused; his voice slightly choking in a way.
"You're just hurt." He finally finished.
Something dripped on his shoulder. You glanced down to find…water? No….tears. You reached your hands up to your face…tears. You couldn't remember the last time that you've cried. But here and now…was your time.
You finally let it all go.
You gripped on to his back and pulled him closer; shoving your face into the crook of his neck. You lightly sobbed.
"Shh, it's okay." He cooed.
For once…you felt whole. Like this void's hunger that had been eating you from the inside out was finally satisfied.
"Ottoman…" You lightly called.
He pulled you back; looking at your beautiful features. He gazed into your __(e/c)__ eyes that swirled with mixed emotions. He gracefully tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and smiled.
"I'll help you find a cure for your brothers illness. I promise."
And with that, the promised was to be sealed. He leaned forward; his hot breathe brushing against your lips. You parted your lips slightly and he grew closer. Your faces were barely inches apart. You could feel his lips lightly, but barely, brush against yours. Your move.
You hesitated at first; but after a light pause, you gave in.
His lips were as dry as the desert..but the kiss was warm. Hot. The way your lips perfectly fit on his. You both pulled away; skin still lightly connected. He stared into your eyes; you doing the same. You felt his hand reached behind your head, and he pulled you in again. You gasped; leaving your mouth completely defenseless. He tongue immediately plunging into your mouth.
The fleshy muscled dance along into your mouth; its warm presence filling you with heated pleasure. He traveled and conquered every nook and craning of your warm cave. The way his tongue smoothly brushed along your teeth. The way his tongue melted in with yours making you one.
You lightly moaned into the kiss. The feeling was so intoxicating.
Your nose bridge brushed against his mask and…
You opened your eyes to find the most beautiful golden eyes that seemed almost hypnotizing.
"Ottoman..You're…beautiful." You whispered.
"Not exactly what I was expecting to hear but…it'll do." He chuckled as he pulled you in for another light kiss.
"Oh. And one more thing," He began.
"Call me Sadik." He grinned.
"Deal." You smiled back.
Who knew the man you had hated moments ago was going to be the man you've come to love?
Years later, you and Sadik were married. And as he promised, he helped your bother find a cure. You were reunited, and everything was sugar canes and rainbows.
